Where to Eat – Local Tips
Isfjorden is a quiet village, and while it doesn’t have a big restaurant scene, there are a few places nearby where you can enjoy a good meal or a proper cup of coffee. Most options are in Åndalsnes, about 7 minutes away by car. Here are our honest recommendations:
☕ Isfjorden Café – Just down the road
Our local café is simple, friendly, and a great place to grab lunch, coffee, or homemade cakes. The menu is not huge, but the atmosphere is relaxed, and it’s nice to support a small, local business. Check their opening hours — they may vary depending on the season.
🌿 Sødahlhuset – Åndalsnes
This is definitely our go-to spot in Åndalsnes. We love their food and cakes. It’s a cozy coffee shop that serves good coffee, fantastic tea, and homemade dishes made with a focus on fresh, local ingredients. It’s one of the most popular places in town—and for good reason!
🍔 Tindestua – Åndalsnes
A casual restaurant and bar by the fjord. You’ll find hearty food here – burgers, fish, and local beer. It’s not fancy, but the portions are generous and the view is amazing.
A Note:
Most restaurants and cafés in the area have limited opening hours, especially outside of summer. We recommend checking their websites or Google for up-to-date hours — or just ask us and we’ll help!
